Translation
(Spanish and Catalan to English)
Translation involves rendering one language into another. The message, tone and style of the original text must be respected, and the text adapted to the cultural and linguistic nuances of the target audience. A translation should be seamless, with a natural style, and should read as though it were originally written in English.
I have worked in many fields and in many sectors over the years and now specialise mainly in marketing and corporate translation. Other working areas include nature and the environment, medical, health and well-being and social and humanitarian issues.
Marketing
Marketing translations require time and effort to ensure your message gets across exactly as you wish. They need to be perfectly adapted to the target audience, country and culture since what makes sense in one language won’t necessarily make sense in another. This is where creativity, an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter, the target language and audience come into play – and here’s where I can help you.
I have years of experience in the following areas:
- Brand and corporate presentations
- Social media content
- Campaigns
- Advertising scripts
- Brochures and catalogues
- Events material
- Marketing metrics
Corporate
I’m sure your website and documentation are perfect in your own language, and this should also be the case for your translated material. Projecting a professional corporate image is a key factor in generating confidence, which is why I offer a high-end translation service that won’t let you down. I have several years’ experience in translating websites and all types of corporate texts, including:
- Annual reports
- CSR policies
- Health and safety in the workplace
- Business and feasibility plans
- Contracts
- Press releases / newsletters, etc.
Other working areas
Nature and the environment
I’m passionate about animals, nature and environmental protection and like to keep up to date with news and developments in these areas. Much of the material I’ve translated to date has been related to recycling, green energy, sustainable buildings, nature preservation, eco tourism…
Social and humanitarian issues
I believe in striving for a fairer, more egalitarian society so I love to collaborate with companies that are working towards the same goal. My clients include various associations and charities, namely related to Alzheimer’s, MS, social inclusion through sport, Oxfam, food and water security, food banks, refugee associations, etc. When I have a gap in my schedule I do voluntary translations for Translators without Borders, working on a host of different issues, such as empowerment for women in Latin America and the plight of street children.
Medical, health and well-being
I have a keen interest in healthy living and have translated a wide range of websites, reports, studies, guidelines and texts related to nutrition, therapies, etc. I also regularly translate texts related to biomedicine and cosmetic and surgical treatments.
Editing & Proofreading (English)
Editing involves checking the text to ensure that ideas are expressed clearly and logically and that the content is consistent and coherent throughout. The text may require only a few changes or several changes or, in some cases, a complete rewrite. I offer this service to both native and non-native English speakers who require a polished text.
Proofreading generally comes after the editing stage (if there is one) and involves a final, detailed review of the text to detect and correct any spelling, grammar, punctuation or format errors. I offer this service to both native and non-native English speakers who require a polished, error-free text.
